Enable Dark Mode to Protect Your Eyes
Checking prices or trading late at night with a bright white screen is hard on the eyes. The Binance app offers Dark Mode, which switches the interface to a dark background and significantly reduces screen glare.
Sign up through the Binance registration link and download the Binance app to customize your interface theme.
How to Enable Dark Mode
Method 1: In-App Settings
- Open the Binance app
- Tap the profile icon in the top-left corner
- Find "Settings" or "Appearance"
- Choose a theme:
- Light Mode
- Dark Mode
- Follow System
- Select "Dark Mode"
Method 2: Follow System Settings
When you select "Follow System," the app automatically matches your phone's system theme:
- Phone in dark mode -> app switches to dark
- Phone in normal mode -> app stays light
If your phone is set to automatically switch to dark mode on a schedule (e.g., 10 PM to 7 AM), the Binance app will follow along.
Interface Appearance in Dark Mode
After switching to dark mode:
- Background changes to dark gray or pure black
- Text becomes white or light gray
- Candlestick charts and graphs retain their normal colors (red and green remain distinct)
- Buttons and interactive elements remain recognizable
Dark mode isn't a simple color inversion — Binance uses a dedicated color scheme to ensure all information remains clearly readable on dark backgrounds.
Benefits for OLED Screens
If your phone has an OLED screen (most mid-to-high-end phones do), dark mode has an additional benefit: power savings. OLED screens turn off pixels when displaying pure black, consuming no power. The large areas of black background in dark mode can noticeably extend battery life.
Candlestick Color Customization
Beyond dark mode, the Binance app also lets you customize candlestick colors:
In the trading page settings:
- Choose "red for up, green for down" (Chinese convention)
- Or "green for up, red for down" (international convention)
Pick whichever matches your personal preference to avoid confusion.
Other Interface Customizations
Trading interface layout: Choose between simple mode or pro mode, displaying different amounts of information panels.
Font size: Some settings allow you to adjust the interface font size.
Home screen modules: The modules shown on the home page (markets, trending, activities, etc.) can be rearranged.
Watchlist sorting: Sort your watchlist by price, change percentage, trading volume, and more.
Dark Mode on the Web Version
Binance's web version also supports dark mode:
- Log into the Binance web version
- Top-right profile icon -> Theme settings
- Switch to dark mode
Some versions also support keyboard shortcuts for toggling.
Other Tips for Late-Night Trading
Besides enabling dark mode, consider these tips for nighttime trading:
- Lower your screen brightness: Even in dark mode, you can reduce brightness further
- Enable blue light filter: Most phones have an "eye comfort" or "night mode" that filters blue light to reduce its impact on sleep
- Set alarms and stop-losses: If you're going to sleep, make sure you have stop-losses and price alerts set — don't stay up staring at charts
- Avoid trading when extremely tired: Fatigue impairs judgment and leads to poor decisions
Dark mode is a small feature, but it makes a big difference for anyone who frequently checks the markets. Especially in low-light environments, dark mode lets you use the app comfortably for extended periods.
