Don't Panic If You Forgot Your Password
Forgetting your password is common. Binance has a comprehensive password reset process that usually takes just a few minutes.
If you don't have a Binance account, create one through the Binance registration link. When registering, consider using a password manager to save your password and avoid forgetting it.
Reset via Email
This is the most common method:
- Open the Binance app or web login page
- Tap "Forgot Password"
- Enter your registered email address
- Complete security verification (slider puzzle, etc.)
- Binance sends a password reset email
- Open the email and click "Reset Password" (link typically valid for 30 minutes)
- Set a new password
- Done
Reset via Phone Number
If your account was registered with a phone number:
- Tap "Forgot Password" on the login page
- Select the "Phone Number" option
- Enter the phone number used during registration
- Receive an SMS verification code
- Enter the code and set a new password
Important Notes About Password Resets
24-hour withdrawal freeze: After a successful reset, withdrawals are automatically disabled for 24 hours. This security measure prevents hackers from stealing assets through password resets.
Two-factor authentication still required: After resetting, you'll still need 2FA (Google Authenticator, SMS, etc.) to log in. The password is just the first line of defense.
New password requirements:
- At least 8 characters
- Include uppercase and lowercase letters
- Include numbers
- Special characters recommended
- Cannot be the same as previously used passwords
Not Receiving the Reset Email?
If the reset email doesn't arrive after clicking "Forgot Password":
- Check spam folder: Reset emails often get flagged as spam
- Wait a few minutes: There may be a delay — don't repeatedly click send
- Verify the email address: Make sure it matches your registration email
- Add to contacts: Add [email protected] to your contacts
- Try another method: Try resetting via phone number instead, or vice versa
Both Email and Phone Number Changed?
If your registered email and phone number are both inaccessible, it's more complicated but still possible:
- Try using the old email/phone on the login page
- If self-service reset isn't possible, contact Binance support
- Prepare these materials:
- ID document photos
- The email or phone number used during registration
- Recent transaction history (if you remember)
- Approximate asset information in the account
- Support will help restore your account after identity verification
Google Authenticator Also Lost?
If you forgot your password AND lost access to Google Authenticator (switched phones without backup):
This requires contacting support for a full security reset. You'll need to:
- Provide ID documents
- May need video verification
- Provide any information proving account ownership
Processing typically takes several days to a week.
Prevention Measures
Use a password manager: Tools like 1Password and Bitwarden securely store complex passwords so you never need to remember them.
Back up Google Authenticator: When setting up the authenticator, screenshot or save the QR code/secret key and store it somewhere safe.
Bind multiple verification methods: Bind email, phone, and Google Authenticator — if any one is lost, the others provide recovery options.
Regularly update security information: When you change phone numbers or emails, update your Binance bindings promptly.
Record recovery information: Write down your registration email, phone number, account UID, etc. and store somewhere safe (not on your phone).
Account security is a system — the password is just one component. With proper multi-layered backups, even a forgotten password can be quickly recovered.
