Tired of entering passwords and waiting for verification codes every time you log into Binance? Binance now supports Passkey — a new passwordless login method that's both more secure and more convenient.
What Is a Passkey?
Passkey is a passwordless authentication technology based on the FIDO2/WebAuthn standard. In simple terms, it replaces traditional passwords with your device's biometrics (fingerprint, face recognition) or device lock (PIN code).
Features:
- No passwords to remember: Log in with fingerprint or face scan
- More secure: No risk of password leaks or guessing
- Anti-phishing: Bound to specific domains — phishing sites can't steal it
- Cross-device sync: Syncs across all your devices via iCloud or Google account
How to Set Up Passkey
After registering on Binance, follow these steps:
APP Setup
- Open the Binance APP
- Go to Profile → Security
- Find "Passkey" option
- Tap "Create Passkey"
- System prompts biometric verification (fingerprint/Face ID)
- Complete verification — Passkey created
- May need to complete other 2FA verification to confirm
Web Setup
- Log into Binance web version
- Go to Security Settings
- Find the Passkey option
- Click Add
- Browser displays a system-level verification dialog
- Verify using fingerprint sensor, Windows Hello, or other method
- Creation complete
Supported Devices
iPhone/iPad
- iOS 16 and above
- Devices supporting Face ID or Touch ID
- Passkeys sync via iCloud Keychain
Android
- Android 9 and above
- Devices with fingerprint or face recognition
- Passkeys sync via Google account
Computer
- macOS Ventura and above (Touch ID)
- Windows 10/11 (Windows Hello)
- Chrome, Safari, Edge, and other major browsers
Using Passkey to Log In
After setup, next time you log in:
- Select "Login with Passkey" on the login page
- System prompts biometric verification
- Once verified, you're logged in
The entire process takes just seconds — no password, no verification codes.
Passkey and Traditional 2FA
Passkey can serve as a login verification method but may not replace all secondary verification. For sensitive operations like withdrawals or security setting changes, Binance may still require additional verification (such as email confirmation).
It's recommended to keep traditional 2FA methods (Google Authenticator/SMS) as backup.
Security Analysis
Why is Passkey more secure than traditional passwords?
- Non-replayable: Each authentication generates a unique cryptographic signature — intercepted data can't be reused
- Domain-bound: Only works on Binance's real domain — phishing sites can't trigger it
- Private key never leaves the device: During verification, your private key stays local — never transmitted to the server
- Database-breach resistant: The server only stores the public key — even if Binance's database is compromised, it doesn't affect you
FAQ
Q: Can I still use Passkey if I lose my phone? If iCloud/Google sync is enabled, logging into the same account on a new device restores it. Without sync, use other verification methods to log in and recreate.
Q: Can I create multiple Passkeys? Yes. It's recommended to create one on each device — e.g., one on your phone, one on your computer.
Q: Can I still log in with a password? Yes. Creating a Passkey doesn't remove password login — both methods coexist.
If you don't have the APP yet, download the Binance APP to experience Passkey.
Summary
Passkey is a more secure and convenient login method, replacing traditional passwords with biometrics. It's simple to set up, easy to use, and far more secure than passwords. If your device supports it, it's strongly recommended to enable it.
